Qingquan Mountain is 17 km east of Hengyang City, with an elevation of 158 meters and an area of 2 square kilometers, near the Leishui River. Though not high, it is famous in the Hengyue region. The spring wells connect to the sand river, warm in winter and cool in summer. Farmhouses nestle among the green hills and waters, resembling Tao Yuanming's 'Peach Blossom Spring'. The 'Youling Youlu Wine' made from mountain spring water was once a tribute to emperors. The mountain has a long history and many legends.

清泉山位于衡阳市东部17公里处，海拔158米，面积2平方公里，紧靠耒水河。山不算高，却驰名衡岳。泉井与砂河相通，冬暖夏凉，山底农家宅院傍山耸立，点缀在青山绿水、奇花异草之中，尤如陶渊明笔下之“桃花源”；用山中泉水酿造的“酉灵 酉录 酒”，曾为历朝敬贡佳品。清泉山历史悠久，典故甚多，清泉山的水曾被清代学士朱佩连赋诗咏颂曰：“清泉山里山清泉，万倾酉灵 湖逗一泓，酉灵 酉录 见珍张载赋，原来缩酒贡南荆。”近年来，在没有庵寺和设施的条件下，仍有衡阳地区及至湘南等地有不少信徒到此烧香拜佛，可见，清泉山是旅游敬佛、休闲的圣地。
