Zizhi Pagoda is located in Chizu Group, Jingchong Village, Maoshi Town, Hengnan County, about 14 km south of the town government. Built in the second year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty, it stands about 10 meters tall with four stories and a base of about 2 square meters. The pagoda is well-preserved with ancient carvings and inscriptions like 'Cherish Paper' and 'Spirit Soaring to the Clouds, Light Shooting the Dipper' still visible. Historically, it was associated with the disposal of written paper by scholars.

字纸塔 位于衡南县茅市镇井冲村赤足组，距茅市镇政府所在地南面约14公里。该塔始建于清光绪丙子二年，塔高约10米，共4层，塔基2平方米左右，现保存完整，巍然屹立。整座造型古朴，每层正面均有精美的石雕图画，其中“珍惜字纸”、“气冲云霄、光射斗牛”等石刻文字依然清晰可见。
据载,以前读书人所记文字纸张,与一般垃圾是有着严格区别的,一定是要在字纸塔中焚烧,这便是字纸塔的来历吧。
