Located at 1,227.3 meters above sea level, Chaotian Temple was built in the Ming Dynasty. Inscriptions inside state: 'Since ancient times, though each era made repairs, ages have passed and the mountain remains while the temple long fell into ruin.' During the Kangxi reign, a monk named Xingzuo cleared thorns to ascend Chaotian and built a thatched hut on earthen steps, restoring the temple. At that time the temple site was at the eastern end of the ridge. In 1750 (15th year of Qianlong), 'a monk named Zixin at Chaotian and donors raised funds' to relocate it to the western end of the ridge, 'building the temple atop a sheer cliff.'

位于海拔１２２７．３米的朝天观，建于明代。观内碑刻称：“伊古以来，各代虽有修建，然世远年湮，朝天之山虽富，朝天之观久废”。“康熙年间，有僧醒作，剪荆棘以登朝天，栖茅茨于土阶，而观始复其观概焉”。是时庙址在山脊东头。清乾隆十五年（１７５０），“朝天有僧自信，檀越募化”，移址于山脊西头，“庙修绝崖之顶，殿倚峭壁之巅”。山门楹联曰：“境拟蓬莱霞晖迥挂，界连霄汉瑞霭常旋”。碑刻还记载：“山以朝天名，意取乎仰容昊天也”。后经嘉庆、道光、宣统年间先后修葺，规模大至三进两殿20余间房。总面积１９００余平方米。从山门入，有长廊，三层梯台皆有殿房。正殿居中供奉女娲娘娘，左右两殿分别供奉地母娘娘和三霄娘娘，后殿供压山祖师。还有观音殿、藏经殿等。此观为夹层石墙环抱，门窗柱匾及神像座等皆岩石嵌砌而成，并雕饰重彩。民国末年，因土匪盘踞致殿被毁。现存部分石墙和山门，有门洞遗址１７个，残碑４２块。
