A cultural relic protection unit of Liuyang, located on the hillside behind the Confucian Temple on Guizhai Road, Chengguan Town, Liuyang. Originally named Kuiwen Pavilion, an affiliated building of the Confucian Temple, it was first built in 1843 during the Qing Daoguang reign, with a floor area of about 200 square meters. 新算学馆，浏阳市文物保护单位。位于浏阳县城关镇圭斋路文庙后山坡上。原名“魁文阁”，为文庙附属建筑物，始建于清道光二十三年(1843)，建筑面积约200平方米。
1895年中日甲午战争后，中国进一步沦为外国列强的殖民地。时值一批救亡图存的志士仁人愤而发起维新变法活动。1897年，谭嗣同、唐才常、欧阳中鹄等人借魁文阁兴办起湖南近代第一所兼学西方自然科学知识的学校——“新算学馆”，设立算艺学堂，以推动维新变法运动。1898年9月，戊戌变法失败，学堂被迫关闭。新算学馆虽开办一年，却起了“为一邑风气”的作用。该学堂坐西向东，砖木结构，二进五间，硬山顶，小青瓦屋面，封火山墙，三合土地面。房舍前坪开阔，有香梓大树多株，枝叶茂密，四周植有多种树木，环境幽静宜人。
